We cannot recommend the pre-school enough. Our son has been attending since he turned 2 and we've been so happy with everything he has learnt and had the opportunity to do in the last year and a half. The pre-school fill the days with so many fun activities such as painting, crafts, independent play time, nature walks, water play and learning about new topics in their nature studies. We especially love how much time he spends outside either in the pre-school garden playing with toys, in the forest school area or on walks in the fields surrounding the pre-school. For us, this was a massive selling point as he loves being outside!
The staff are really friendly and made us feel confident leaving him from his very first day at pre-school. They were brilliant at comforting him when he was upset at us leaving and we liked that they kept us updated with his day so we knew that he had settled in.
We love the community events that the pre-school organise twice a year and enjoy bringing our son's grandparents to these so that he can show them around.
We couldn’t be happier with Swanton Abbott Preschool. It really is a lovely little preschool where everything is centred around the children and giving them the best possible experiences.
One of the things we love most is the emphasis on outdoor learning and their Wanderlust/Hygge approach. The children are always exploring, discovering and learning something new each week. Our little boy regularly comes home using new words or talking about things he has learnt at preschool, which is so lovely to see.
The staff are wonderful and are always available to talk about how he is getting on and his development. Since starting, he has made so much progress, particularly with his speech and language, and his confidence has grown enormously. It is clear that the staff really know him as an individual and understand how to support and encourage him.
The setting itself is Hygge inspired and has such a warm, nurturing feel. The children have so many opportunities to be outdoors, and having the chickens and guinea pigs there is such a special touch – the children absolutely love them!
We are so pleased we chose Swanton Abbott Preschool and would highly recommend it to other families looking for a caring, child-centred preschool where children are encouraged to explore, learn and grow in confidence.
100% would recommend this setting to anyone that is looking for a nursery for their little one. My son attended from the age of 2 until he was 4 years old. The teachers go above and beyond for the children that are in their care. My son loved every moment of his time here.

Swanton Abbott preschool is amazing. It is a wonderful setting along with kind and caring staff. My children have thrived here and gained some excellent life experiences. From growing fruits and vegetables to watching the life cycles of animals - chicks, frogs, butterflies - this preschool promotes such a fantastic journey for children in their early years and I strongly recommend it!
My little one has grown so much in confidence since he began here in 2020. Sarah,Owen & Julie go above and beyond for all the children in there care and it’s a real home from home setting with lots of fun and learning and outdoor/nature fun.
